(from github.com/charles-pinkston)
When re-crawling a site, manual edits to a specific document’s ‘boost’ value are being reset to the default of 1.0.

An indexed document are overwritten by recrawling it.

Ummmm, what? Sorry but let me make sure I understand.

Let’s say I have page /XYZ/. We crawl the site using FESS and page /XYZ/ gets saved in my search engine. I then go into the FESS admin, modify metadata about page /XYZ/ (specifically boosting) and then save. Life is good. Later we kick off another FESS crawl to capture new pages and get rid of removed pages.

Are you saying that what I saved for page /XYZ/, which still exists and has not changed, gets overwritten and I have to go back into the FESS Admin to re-enter and save my meta data changes?

To change a boost value, use Doc Boost.

I think I see our problem. Hopefully I am understanding. So FESS keeps track of boosts separate from the search engine. Do you know if it keeps a whole different set of data or if it copies the current metadata from the search engine before it over writes it?

How does it handle click tracking? We are losing our click tracking data, Is there a place for FESS to keep that?
