how to handle collections from GSA

Wanted to check if any suggestion to handle collections from GSA.
Many people utilized collections with GSA to achieve content segregation. What’s the best approach in FESS to mimic similar feature? Is ‘label’ a way to do that?

With GSA, an item can be part of multiple collections, is ‘label’ able to handle it?
